Lake Ohrid, one of the largest and most important natural sites of Europe. Since it has flora and fauna which nowhere else in the world can be found. Lake Ohrid actually began to "live" as long as mankind exists. According to the professor of the University of Belgrade, Academic PhD. Sinisa Stankovic,  Lake Ohrid is 4 million years old. It arose in a very old geological period by tectonic movements of the earth. The flora and fauna of Lake Ohrid is never disturbed in its existence. Around the lake are many important geological changes occur in the past: the rise of mountains, creating valleys, creating other lakes and disappearance of lakes. Some parts of the Balkan peninsula Republic were below sea level, but Lake Ohrid has always remained unscathed from all geographic changes.

 Located in the Southwestern part of the Balkan Peninsula. Ohrid is one of the major municipalities in the Republic of Macedonia. In the second half of 19^th century Ohrid played an important role in the revival of Macedonian culture.

 St. Naum is an old Eastern Orthodox monastery in the Republic of Macedonia, named after the medieval Saint Naum. It is situated along Lake Ohrid, 29 km south of the city of Ohrid. The monastery gets its name from the saint who founded it. The monastery was established in the year 905 by St Naum of Ohrid himself. St Naum is also buried in the church.

Due to the beautiful setting, the monastery is among the most popular destinations in the Republic of Macedonia. There is a hotel, and several restaurants operating in warmer days, from early spring until late autumn.
